Overview

Over 18 months I led the engineering of the venture’s core product: a flexible neighbourhood platform for institutions, developers, residents, volunteers, and local organisations—joined to an early token-governance and public-record model.

Field notes

Led engineering across the Nuxt, Vuex, and Firebase application: project profiles, map and category discovery, posts, comments, calls to action, supporter counts, notifications, and member workflows.
Designed the permission and membership model for open, limited, and admin-managed projects, with realtime derived state maintained through Firebase security rules and Cloud Functions.
Adapted the platform for COVID-19 relief so neighborhoods could publish and discover food, medical-supply, volunteering, employment, grant, and mutual-aid initiatives through one shared workflow.
Built an exploratory project-record prototype that combined engagement, finance, and collaboration signals, then wrote a corresponding checkpoint transaction to EOS through a Cloud Function.
The BLD model treated contribution—not only capital—as stake: institutions and developers could reward useful participation, while residents gained a legible route into project governance. The production collaboration app and the token layer were deliberately developed at different levels of maturity.
The thesis grew from working precedents: STEEM Park raised over $20K for a Brooklyn civic build, while the preceding SNDBOX ecosystem supported 200 incubator members and 150 projects and distributed more than $400K in cryptocurrency.
