Overview
Hexapod Industries is a science-fiction mystery played across three connected faction websites. Players explored fictional desktops, uncovered terminal commands and called a hidden phone line to unlock 3D artifacts called Holofacts. I designed and built the story and interfaces with Next.js and React Three Fiber, using Twilio for the phone puzzle, Supabase for puzzle state, and Solidity contracts to verify signed mint authorizations and record ownership on Ethereum.
In-World Faction Sites
Field notes
- Players searched a faux desktop for a mint command under a five-minute deadline. A later release used a Twilio phone tree to reveal an access code.
- Puzzle completion issued a signed authorization. Solidity contracts checked it, enforced release limits, and restricted each group to one mint per address.
- Next.js and React Three Fiber powered the faction sites and interactive Holofacts. API routes and Supabase handled challenge state and REFAB choices; Hardhat supported contract testing.
- The release created about 400 Holofacts and ended with a shared community event. Research cards and levelling shipped; the component factory and reconstruction systems remained unfinished.
- The archive includes a Season 2 continuation in development and a planned edition of 64 physical floppy disks.
